A full entry unit is made up of three parts:

  1. Wooden Door or Doors
  2. Sidelights
  3. Transom

The lumber to be used in manufacturing your full entry unit is made of South American mahogany or Spanish cedar. The Rainforest Alliance of South America certifies our lumber source, which grows in the rainforest of South America. New Erra Doors will assist you in choosing the perfect lumber and stain color for your door. Your door can be constructed in various shapes. Some of these choices are: square, rounded, or "eyebrow" shaped. The finishing process consists of filling, sanding, and hand rubbed staining. We then seal your door with three coats of polyurethane. We hand sand between each of these three coats. Another option you have is to put a glass panel in the center of your door. By placing a single, hinged wrought iron piece over the glass panel, you create an airy elegant look to your front door. The ironwork is made to swing out for easy cleaning. You also have the option to make your wooden door impact rated for winds up to 140 miles per hour. This is very important in the areas of the world where severe wind and rain are part of the weather cycle.

The sidelights are glass panels that are the same height as the door and are located on either side of the wooden door. These glass panels can be etched with a design of your choice or they can be tinted with gray, brown or bronze color. Many of our customers choose to place ironwork over the sidelights. This ironwork is handcrafted by our talented artisans and can be a variety of colors. If you chose ironwork in the door, it can be repeated in the sidelights.

A transom is the glass part over the door. A transom is used when more light or a taller look is required. The shape of the transom can be square, "eyebrow", or elliptical. The glass on the transom is impact rated. You have the same color and design choices as the glass insert in the front door and the sidelights. If you have chosen ironwork to be placed in the front door and sidelights, we can use the same pattern for the transom.

For your full entry units, we offer you a computer aided drawing. This helps you to better visualize your ideas. At this time, you can make any changes you desire. Our goal is to help you to design the full entry unit that you can enjoy. If you can dream it---we can build it! We want your full entry unit to look like a work of art when installed.

New Erra Doors full entry units are sold as a complete package. This includes stain grade quality jambs that are in custom widths, and inside and out full width thresholds. 5 x 5 ball bearing hinges help to keep the door in place and promote easy opening and closing of the door. They also add extra security to your home and enhance the elegant look of your custom door.
